North Towne Shopping Center, 2006
Located in Albuquerque’s northeast heights, North Towne is a premiere 103,000 sq. ft. shopping venue, including anchor tenants Whole Foods and Borders Books. Managed by Weingarten Realty Investors (WRI), North Towne is one of several significant properties maintained by Heads Up.
WRI asked for the design and installation of new shrub beds to enhance and beautify the recently updated shopping center. Senior Designer Julian Corrie designed beds that included a wide assortment of plants, annuals, and large planters on pedestals, as well as a water feature.
Heads Up Enhancement crews, led by Jose Dominquez, went to work installing the beds. The new pedestals were to match the existing surrounding façade and needed to be strong enough to support the weight of the planters and water feature. As this was work not usually created by the Enhancements crews, Heads Up Concrete Crew Leader Marcario Salas was called in to accomplish this part of the project. The water feature design called for two round planters with a fountain and waterfall. Enhancement Manager Patrick Jose designed the challenging pump and flow system from scratch.
After the Enhancement crews completed the beds, the finishing touch was the installation of the annuals designed by Heads Up Color Coordinator Sherri Ward. When the project was completed on time, WRI was extremely pleased with the results.
North Towne is an excellent example of the efforts of different Heads Up crews working positively together to efficiently implement outstanding design to beautify and modernize an existing property.
